One-off scholarships in the amount of 560 Canadian dollars each of ’Radovan Ribić’ School Foundation from Edmonton in Canada were officially delivered on 15 March 2021 to five students of the Faculty of Economics of the University of Banja Luka.
Dean of the Faculty of Economics Prof. Milenko Krajišnik, PhD, said that ’Radovan Ribić’ School Foundation awards one-off scholarships to students who have completed the first year of study.
„This scholarship is more than money. It shows that education is important, that people who have made careers worldwide take education very seriously and point to the best students that will continue develop the country.“, Krajišnik said.
Krajišnik said that the Foundation was founded by Radovan Ribić, a student of the then College of Economics, i.e., the current Faculty of Economics in Banja Luka, who graduated in 1969 and went to Canada, where he made a successful career.
„As a sign of remembrance and gratitude to this institution, the Ribić family, together with a colony of Serbs in Canada, established this foundation and determined the rules according to which it awards one-off scholarships.“, Krajišnik added.
One of the students awarded with this scholarship, Jovana Popović, now a second-year student in Business Informatics with a grade average of 9.88 in the first year of study, says that this scholarship means a lot to her, as it is recognition and evaluation of her work and efforts, likewise.
The ’Radovan Ribić’ School Foundation was established in 2002 in memory of Radovan Ribić, a prominent member of the Serbian colony in Edmonton, Canada. The initial capital for the work of the Foundation was provided by the Ribić family, which also manages the Foundation together with certain members of the Serbian colony in Edmonton.
