The Fourth students’ dormitory, designed to accommodate 280 best students, was declared open at the ceremony held on the premises of the University campus on Sep 19 2016, with appropriate addresses following delivered by the President of the Republic of Srpska, Mr Milorad Dodik, the Rector of the University, Prof. Milan Mataruga, and the Chairman of the Students’ Parliament of the University of Banja Luka, Mr Zoran Grahovac.
Prof. Mataruga wished for the students to feel at home in this dormitory, inviting them to invest their energy into creating future for the generations to come, expressing gratitude to all those who helped build the object.
President Dodik, in his address, pointed out that the authorities were dedicated to improving students’ standard through, among other things, providing them with modern accommodation facilities across the Republic of Srpska, but emphasized, at the same time, the need of constantly improving quality of academic work as well.
Mr Grahovac added that the object matched the global standards of such facilities in terms of functionality and inventory.
This dormitory being the first object in the Republic of Srpska to meet the energy efficiency requirements, the ceremony was attended by the Minister of Spatial Planning, Civil Engineering and Environment, Ms Srebrenka Golic, who presented the Rector with the respective energy certificate.
The work on the construction of the dormitory started in April 2014, the building costs totaling BAM 7,573,310, with additional funds for the inventory.
