Hierarchical classification of roads at intersections. Relationship between traffic volume and throughput, safety, field conditions, impact on the environment. Vehicle movement geometry, vehicle types, movement trajectory. Intersections, types and functions, points of conflict. Lanes at intersections for turning, deceleration and acceleration. Dimensioning of intersections. Traffic islands. Division, functions, design. Roundabouts. Categories and types of roundabouts, dimensioning and application. Surface drainage, vertical and horizontal signalization, equipment. Interchanges in several levels, categorization, types and class. Tracing in the interchange area. Selection of ramps in relation to field conditions. Boundary elements of the layout plan and the longitudinal profile in the interchange zone. Geometric design of the through road and the route of on-off ramps. Pavement surface and ramps superelevation. Construction and distances of entrance-exit lanes. Vertical and horizontal signalization at surface intersections. Traffic signalization at interchanges. Installations. Safety at interchanges. Drainage from the area of the interchange.
