Project SMEQA: Representatives of the UNIBL in a workshop in Mostar

The representatives of the University of Banja Luka (UNIBL) participated in a workshop titled “Subsequent activities: strengthening the capacities of the quality assurance system in higher education“ in Mostar on 5 February 2026. It was organized within the Erasmus+ project of capacity building in higher education SMEQA - Strengthening Capacities and Mechanisms for Enhancement of Quality in higher education in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The workshop held at the University of Mostar gathered partners in a project, representatives of higher education institutions, competent education authorities, quality assurance bodies, and ministries, with the aim of considering the development and application of additional activities in the framework of external quality assurance and accreditation processes at higher education institutions.

Introductory addresses were made by the representatives of the University of Mostar, Agency for development of higher education and quality assurance of Bosnia and Herzegovina (HEA), and Coordination team of SMEQA project, and they pointed to the significance of strengthening of systemic mechanisms of subsequent follow-up of accreditation procedures, in accordance with the European standards and guidelines for quality assurance in the European higher education space.

Working sessions were dedicated to the regulatory and procedural levels that define the subsequent activities in Bosnia and Herzegovina, including institutional roles and responsibilities, compliance with European standards, and follow-up mechanisms for implementation of guidelines deriving from the accreditation.

In the afternoon program, there was an interactive World Café session, where participants exchanged views on adjusting institutional and action plans at the level of study programs, as well as the efficient application of accreditation recommendations in strengthening the mechanisms of follow-up and reporting.

The workshop concluded by summarizing the key conclusions and emphasizing the importance of ongoing cooperation among all relevant stakeholders in order to strengthen external mechanisms of quality assurance and enhance the overall quality of higher education.
