Delegation of the University of Banja Luka in a conference in Shanghai

Delegation of the University of Banja Luka (UNIBL), led by Rector, Prof. Radoslav Gajanin, PhD, participated on 8 June 2025 in a Conference on Intelligent Digital Medicine in Shanghai, titled “Integration of education and industry with scientific technological achievements.”

Rector Gajanin spoke in the first part of the conference on the topic “Regeneration of salivary glands – a diagnostic challenge,” while in the introductory remarks to the event, there were addresses by representatives of universities and competent ministries. The Minister for scientific technological development and higher education of the Republic of Srpska, Assistant Professor Željko Budimir, PhD, addressed the conference via video link.

Besides the Rector, their address at the conference also had the Vice-Rector for Human and Material Resources, Prof. Dalibor Kesić, PhD, and the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Banja Luka, Prof. Ranko Škrbić, PhD.

The goal of the international conference on intelligent digital medicine that took place in Shanghai was the creation of a synergetic ecosystem that ties medical education, clinical practice, and industrial innovations.

Through establishing an integrated development chain, the organizers attempt to strengthen the cooperation between education and health institutions, and industrial partners, thus supporting the transition of knowledge and technology into practical application. One of the main strategic goals is to build up a globally connected innovative system, Quintuple Helix, which integrates industry, academia and research, and includes the public sector and social surroundings.

The conference focus is on “Smart Health care”, by means of technological forums, research support, development, and industrial implementation of achievements. Particular emphasis was placed on speeding up the medical cooperation among partnering countries within the initiative “Belt and Road”, aiming to create an open system of innovations with high global competitiveness.

The organizers of the conference are the Chinese Association of Medical Equipment and Shanghai University of Medicine and Healthcare Sciences.

The Director of the Confucius Institute, Associate Professor Ljiljana Stević, PhD, and an Assistant at the Faculty of Philology, Anja Mudrenović, MA, are also in the delegation of the University of Banja Luka.
