A total of 186 Graduates of the Faculty of Medicine Were Promoted

The promotion of 186 graduates and the celebration of 41 years of successful work and development of the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Banja Luka were held on 15 November 2019 at Banski dvor Cultural Center.

On that occasion 84 doctors of medicine, 54 masters of pharmacy, 32 doctors of dentistry and 16 graduates of nursing and healthcare were promoted.

Rector of the University of Banja Luka Professor Radoslav Gajanin, PhD, said that the students that are graduating from the Faculty of Medicine are better and better every year, which is why the Republic of Srpska does not need to worry about its healthcare, as all its segments will have very good experts.

He also said that the Faculty of Medicine has harmonized its curricula and competences in nearly all study programs with the European Directives and the competences envisaged, and that he expects that the study program in medicine will soon also be conducted in English.

,,The Faculty of Medicine, as an important member of the University of Banja Luka, is the leader in health education and development in the Republic of Srpska and has successfully been educating medical staff for many years. Former students of the Faculty of Medicine in Banja Luka and Foca are the bearers of the health care system’’, Rector said.

Minister of Health and Social Welfare of the Republic of Srpska Alen Seranic said that the Ministry and the Government strive to make it a priority to ensure that graduates work in health care institutions and thus stay in the Republic of Srpska.

Seranic emphasized that graduates will be able to continue their education at the Faculty of Medicine and the University of Banja Luka because it is important that the Republic of Srpska has experts in the field of research who can support the health care system.

Dean of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Banja Luka Professor Ranko Skrbic, PhD, told the reporters that the best student of the generation Djordje Djukanovic will get a job at the Faculty, which is how this higher institution strives to keep the best staff and enable them to engage in research.

Skrbic reminded that the solemn academy is held every 15 November, which is celebrated as the Faculty Day as a remembrance of the first lecture held in 1978.

The Faculty also awarded the professors and assistants for their outstanding work, as well as the best student of the generation.

The event was also attended by Vice Rector for International and Interuniversity Cooperation Professor Biljana Antunovic, PhD, Secretary General to the University of Banja Luka Djordje Markez, MA, Vice President of the RS Government Srebrenka Golic and other guests.
