Visit of the representatives from the University of Weihestephan

On 23 and 24 May 2017, the Faculty of Agriculture of the University of Banja Luka hosted 25 students and professors from the partner University of Weihestephan, Germany, with which our University has had a successful cooperation since 2000.

The students, who came accompanied by the Prof. Johannes Holzner, Dean of the International Studies for Agricultural Economics and Rural Development, and their hosts visited the ‘Livač’ agricultural cooperative , ‘Verićanke’ women’s association, and ‘Savić’ agricultural household  in the village of Verići, where they had an opportunity to be introduced to the manner and level of organisation of agricultural production in this area. 

The next day, at the meeting held at the Faculty of Agriculture, the Vice-Dean for international cooperation, Prof. Gordana Rokvić, said that the students from the Faculty of Agriculture had continuously participated in student exchange programme with the University of Weihestephan. She added that the result of this cooperation was establishing the study programme of Agricultural Economics and Rural Development in 2006, and that establishing a joint master degree programme was in progress. 

On that occasion, Prof. Holzner pointed out that the agriculture in Bosnia and Herzegovina had huge development potential regarding crops, market-oriented production, and livestock production, and added that, in order to use this potential, highly educated personnel was essential.
