Marking of the International Day of Forests

The Faculty of Forestry of the University of Banja Luka will mark the International Day of Forests on 19 and 20 March 2026 under the slogan “Where the forest breathes, there man finds hope.”

The event is organized in cooperation with the Academy of Sciences and Arts of the Republic of Srpska, with the support of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management of the Republic of Srpska and the public enterprise “Forests of the Republic of Srpska”.

A round table entitled “Strategy for the Development of Forestry of the Republic of Srpska for the Period 2026–2035” will be held on 19 March 2026 at 1:00 p.m. on the premises of the Academy of Sciences and Arts of the Republic of Srpska.

The central event will take place on 20 March 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at the Faculty of Forestry of the University of Banja Luka.

The organizers recall that last year was dedicated to Pančić’s spruce, while this year’s celebration will focus on the narrow-leaved ash (Fraxinus angustifolia), with the aim of making the promotion of an individual tree species a traditional feature of the International Day of Forests celebration.

Following the official programme and the planting of narrow-leaved ash seedlings on the University campus at 12:00 noon, the first national working meeting of the INTERREG Scan-Danube project, dedicated to the conservation of this species, will also be held.
