The Ambassador of Japan visited UNIBL

On the occasion of presenting a Japanese film festival at the Students’ Cultural Center of the University of Banja Luka (SKC UNIBL), the Ambassador of Japan to BiH, H.E. Aiki Toshihiro, paid an official visit to the University of Banja Luka on 4 February 2026.

Ambassador Toshihiro met in the Rectorate of the University with the Vice-Rector for Teaching, Students’ Issues, and Quality Prof. Milica Balaban, PhD, and Vice-Rector for Human and Material Resources, Prof. Dalibor Kesić, PhD, and discussed with them the past academic cooperation and the possibility of its further strengthening in the coming period.

During the meeting, which was attended also by the First Secretary and Head of Political Department of the Japan Embassy, Ms Ochiai Kana, and the Head of Students’ Cultural Center of the University of Banja Luka Mladen Banjac, they emphasized the significance of higher education institutions, and the Ambassador expressed his hope that the students of the University of Banja Luka will apply for programs and scholarships offered by the Japan higher education institutions, and satisfaction that the bilateral ties are strengthening through cultural events.

The Japanese film festival, which is taking place from 4 to 6 February in SKC UNIBL, is the final stop of the film festival 2025-2026 in Bosnia and Herzegovina. It was held from November 2025 to February 2026 in five cities in BiH. Over the three days, the Banja Luka audience will have an opportunity to see three Japanese films that depict contemporary Japanese society and offer a unique insight into Japan from different perspectives.
