The University received access to over 29.000 standards
University of Banja LukaGeneralAn agreement on cooperation between the University of Banja Luka and the Republic Institute of Standardization and Metrology of the Republic of Srpska was signed on 9 December 2025 at the Rectorate premises.
The document was signed by the Rector of the UNIBL, Prof. Radoslav Gajanin, PhD, and the Institute Director, Nataša Žugić, in the presence of the Minister of Economy and Entrepreneurship of the Republic of Srpska, Vojin Mitrović.
Rector Gajanin said that this cooperation will significantly empower the academic community, especially in the fields of accessing standards and developing new solutions. He stressed that the University will get an opportunity to use a wide spectrum of standards and participate in their further advancement, as well as in laboratory research.
Minister Mitrović assessed that the agreement is an important step towards better connectivity among public institutions and the academic sector. He added that agreed cooperation will contribute to developing education, scientific research work, and economic ambient, and emphasized that common activities will improve the quality, competitiveness, and productivity.
Director of the Institute, Nataša Žugić, reminded that standards have a key role in the economy and education. She added that the Institute has been creating a database of JUS standards since 2014, containing more than 16.000 standards in an electronic format and more than 13.000 standards in hardcopy, which were a heritage from the time of S.F.R. of Yugoslavia.
Žugić pointed out that the agreement enables exchange of experiences, joint seminars, teacher and student support, and developing other forms of cooperation.
According to the agreement, written copies and digital formats of JUS standards will be passed over to the University, i.e. Centre for Development and Support to Research, for archiving and safekeeping. Digitalized versions will be available to teachers and students for the need of teaching activities and research, with secured access and data protection. The University will take over the standards in paper form along with the accompanying list, as well as electronic format with a protected search&display program, with precise evidence and a jointly defined procedure of accessing the archived standards.
