Second Action Lab on Inclusive Urban Spaces

On 12 December 2025, the second Action Lab was held at the Faculty of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Geodesy of the University of Banja Luka as part of the project "Inclusive Urban Gardens of Banja Luka." The event was dedicated to creating a vision for the development of inclusive open public spaces in the city.

The lab brought together people with and without disabilities, students, professionals, representatives of the City of Banja Luka, and non-governmental organizations, with the aim of opening dialogue and encouraging joint reflection on how to make public spaces more accessible, inclusive, and greener.

The event presented the project’s achievements to date, along with students’ visions for the development of inclusive open public spaces in Banja Luka. Following the presentations, participants worked in smaller groups in a workshop-based, co-creative format to develop concrete actions and proposals for improving urban spaces.

The Action Lab concluded with presentations of the working groups’ results and shared conclusions, which will serve as a basis for the further development of project activities and for guiding future action in the fields of inclusion and universal design.

The event was organized within the URBACT Pioneers Accelerator programme, implemented by the City of Banja Luka and several faculties of the University of Banja Luka, with financial support from the EU, aiming to improve open public spaces based on the principles of equality and accessibility for all.
