Alexandra Trninić’s Exhibition Opened at the SKC

University of Banja LukaGeneral

The exhibition titled “I Am Born Every Day, Despite All Previous Information About Me” by artist Alexandra Trninić was opened on December 8, 2025, at the Student Cultural Center of the University of Banja Luka (SKC UNIBL), drawing an audience that immediately recognized the strength and authenticity of her visual language.

The exhibition features 12 oil paintings, one installation, and five poems, which together function as a harmonious whole — an artistic organism in which the works communicate with one another, support each other, and form a small community of their own. This idea of togetherness is one of the central themes of the young artist’s creative work.

In her oeuvre, Trninić explores the dynamics of family relationships, with the house and household appearing as both spatial and symbolic centers of her work. These environments host the rituals of everyday life — preparing food, shared meals, caring for animals, and practicing Orthodox traditions — which in her interpretation become visual codes of familial closeness and heritage. Although invisible, the spiritual component permeates all of her works, forming a meaningful and multilayered thread that connects them.

One of the exhibition’s most striking elements is its very title. As the artist reveals, she found inspiration in the verses of Branko Miljković, from the poem “Between Two Days.”

Through her work, she persistently preserves collective values, which she considers the essence of community. According to her, roles within that community are clearly defined, and selflessness represents one of the fundamental principles of this invisible inner order.

Alexandra Trninić creates across a wide range of media — from oil on canvas to graphite and colored pencils, and occasional explorations in readymade and installation art. This openness to various techniques and forms of expression enables her to shape intimate, familial, and spiritual motifs in a subtle yet powerful manner.
