The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering commemorated 54 years of successful work

The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Banja Luka formally commemorated 54 years of existence and successful work.

During the ceremony, there was a formal handover of Diplomas to the graduates of the first and second cycles of studies who completed their studies in the period 16 November 2023 to 22 September 2025.

The Rector of the University of Banja Luka, Prof. Radoslav Gajanin, PhD, emphasized that the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering enrolls an increasing number of students each year, thanks to the dedicated work of its leadership and teaching staff.

“They have adjusted the study programs that correspond to the needs of the modern labor market. Our students often find a job before graduation, which is very important. There is an intensive cooperation with the economics sector, and a continual practice is secured through that cooperation,” said Rector Gajanin.

The Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Prof. Darko Knežević, PhD, expressed his satisfaction with the results achieved in the past period, pointing out that the Faculty has been recognized in the region and beyond, which is confirmed by the presence of guests from the Republic of Srpska, Federation BiH, Serbia, China, and the region.

As it was mentioned, this year, 140 students enrolled in the first cycle of studies.  According to the Dean, in the past 54 years, some 11.000 students enrolled in the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, and some 2.100 completed the first cycle of studies.

Along with many guests, present at the ceremony were also Vice-Rectors of the UNIBL, Prof. Milica Balaban, PhD, and Prof. Kristina Pantelić Babić, PhD, as well as the Secretary General, M.Sc. Đorđe Markez.
