Professors at the University of Banja Luka received Fulbright scholarships

Associate Professor at the Faculty of Law, Bojana Vasiljević Poljašević, PhD, and Full Professor at the Faculty of Physical Education and Sport, Saša Jovanović, PhD, received Fulbright Visiting Scholar Grants for the academic year 2025/2026.

The research stay of Prof. Vasiljević Poljašević will be at the School of Law of the University of San Diego, under the mentoring of the Law Professor and the Dean, Robert Shapiro, laureate of the ‘C. Hugh Friedman’s award. 

The topic of her research is: “Fiscal Federalism in Theory and Practice: A Case of Fiscal Federalism in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Lessons to be Learned from the US Practices.” The research will analyze the Fiscal Federalism system in Bosnia and Herzegovina, with an emphasis on its theoretical basis and practical challenges, as well as a comparative overview of models and solutions developed in the United States of America.

On the other hand, Prof. Saša Jovanović, PhD, through the Fulbright program, will stay at the Division of Geriatrics and Gerontology at the Department of Medicine of Emory University, where he will complete his research under the mentoring of Prof. Madelaine Hackney, PhD. 

The topic of Prof. Jovanović’s research is related to the application of dancing as an additional, non-pharmacological therapeutic means for persons with Parkinson's and Alzheimer's. His research will include analysis of the effects of dancing interventions on motoric and cognitive functions, as well as on the quality of life of patients with neurodegenerative diseases. 

Receiving this prestigious scholarship is a significant recognition for the academic and scientific research activity of Prof. Bojana Vasiljević Poljašević, PhD, and Prof. Saša Jovanović, PhD, and for the University of Banja Luka.
