Ambassador Montgomery visits the Faculty of Philosophy

A conversation with the former United States ambassador William Montgomery, entitled “Diplomacy in Times of Turmoil”, was held on 18 November 2025 in the Blue Hall of the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Banja Luka, on the occasion of the publication of his book “UnDiplomatic Lives”.

During the event, moderated by Ms Anđelina Ošap Gaćanović, Montgomery spoke about his thirty-year diplomatic career, which includes ambassadorial posts in Bulgaria, Croatia, Serbia and Montenegro, as well as the role of special adviser to the President and the Secretary of State of the United States for the implementation of peace in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The book reveals numerous details from his professional and personal life and offers a unique insight into diplomatic service.

The audience had the opportunity to ask questions and hear Montgomery’s insights on diplomatic relations, the challenges facing the region and the motives that encouraged him to write the book. The event was also attended by the vice-rector for international and inter-university cooperation of the University of Banja Luka, prof. Kristina Pantelić Babić, PhD.

The event was organised by the publishing house “Klio” from Belgrade, in cooperation with the Institute for Humanities and Social Sciences of the Faculty of Philosophy and the Centre for Federalist and International Studies of the Faculty of Political Sciences of the University of Banja Luka.
