A Conversation with Ambassador William Montgomery

A Conversation with Ambassador William Montgomery titled “Diplomacy in Times of Turmoil” will be held on November 18, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. in the Blue Hall of the Faculty of Philosophy, University of Banja Luka.

The occasion for this event is the publication of Montgomery’s new book, “Non/Diplomatic Lives,” in which he reflects on his experiences from a thirty-year diplomatic career. During the discussion, the ambassador will speak about the challenges of contemporary diplomacy and share personal insights gained while serving in numerous countries.

The event, moderated by Mr. Anđelina Ošap Gajanović, is organized by Clio Publishing House (Belgrade), the Institute for Humanities and Social Sciences of the Faculty of Philosophy, and the Center for Federalist and International Studies of the Faculty of Political Sciences, University of Banja Luka.

Montgomery has served as U.S. Ambassador to Bulgaria, Croatia, Serbia, and Montenegro, as well as Special Advisor to the President and the Secretary of State for the Implementation of Peace in Bosnia and Herzegovina. His previous diplomatic postings include Moscow, Sofia, Dar es Salaam, and Belgrade, and he is fluent in Russian, Bulgarian, and Serbian.
