RETLAMI-SEE project: A Study visit to Vienna

A group of researchers, PhD students, and administrative staff of the University of Banja Luka (UNIBL), went to a study visit to Vienna from 21 to 25 October 2025, within the project Enhancing Capacities for Quality and Impactful Research on Transformations, Labor and Migration in Southeast Europe (RETLAMI-SEE), financed by the Horizon Europa project.

During the visit, the hosts from Research Center for the History of Transformations (RECET) of the University of Vienna, organized a number of activities directed to strengthening research and administrative capacities of UNIBL guests. 

Second day of the visit was marked by the workshop „Basic qualitative approach in digital sociology – a digital ethnography “, led by Associate Professor at the Faculty of Political Sciences of the UNIBL, Bojana Vukojević, PhD.

This workshop emphasized the growing potential of the University of Banja Luka in the field of digital sociology and contemporary methodologies in social sciences, and stimulated the discussion among the participants – colleagues from UNIBL, researchers of the University of Vienna, and Austrian Academy of Science.

Particular focus was on training for research management and career development, organized by the representatives of the Department for research services and career modeling of the University of Vienna. During the training, the participants had a chance to get acquainted with practices of project management for the EU financed projects, including the grants Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) and European Research Council (ERC).

Besides that, the researchers from the Faculty of Political Science participated in a workshop on integration of gender dimension in researching, led by Dr. Jovana Mihajlović Trbovc from Institute of Culture and memory studies of the Slovenia Academy of Science and Art (ZRC SAZU), and a session on application of artificial intelligence in visualization of scientific findings, additionally improving the interdisciplinary component of a project.

The visit concluded with meetings of research team and plans for the continuation of field work within the project. RETLAMI-SEE project, which is being implemented from 2024 to 2027 is coordinated by the Faculty of Political Sciences of the University of Banja Luka, thus confirming the University's role of a leader in strengthening the research cooperation and excellence in the region.
