Invitation to the Week of Open Science

University of Banja LukaGeneralAcross

The Across Alliance is organizing a Week of Open Science from 20 to 26 October 2025. During this period, there will be workshops, lectures, and exchange of experience, with the aim of promoting the open, transparent, and cooperative research at the universities within the Alliance.

Researchers, students, and partners are invited to join the activities and participate in shaping the future of open science.

What is open science?

Open science encloses strategies and procedures that enable all parts of the scientific process to be openly available, understandable, and reusable via the internet. That includes:

  • Publications (open approach),
  • Research data (open data),
  • Teaching materials (open educational resources),
  • Software (open software), and
  • Review process (open review).

Besides, open science attempts to include citizens in the research process (civil science).

Why does Across support open science?

The Across believes that maximum opening of science is a key to successful and future-oriented development of universities, because it:

  • Facilitates cross-border spreading of knowledge,
  • Improves cooperation in research,
  • Stimulates cross-border development of innovative (digital) learning and teaching, and
  • Prepares the foundation for cross-border networking with partners from non-university research institutions, the economic sector, political life, and society, for the successful transfer of knowledge.

Across is a university alliance that brings together nine partner universities in Europe, and one associated member. Its goal is the development of adjusted transnational solutions in education, research, and the transfer of knowledge for cross-border regions.

More information and how to apply can be found at the link.

We invite all the researchers, students, and partners to join us during the Week of Open Science and actively participate in shaping the future of open science. All events can be monitored in Room 8 in the Rectorate of the University of Banja Luka.
