Faculty of Philology Hosts Professor from University Malaysia Sarawak

From October 14 to 17, 2025, the Faculty of Philology at the University of Banja Luka hosted Dr. Zahar Husein, a professor from University Malaysia Sarawak, whose lectures and meetings attracted great interest from students and faculty members.

Professor Husein delivered a lecture titled “Language, Culture and Customs on the Multicultural Peninsula (Malaysia)”, in which he presented to students and faculty the linguistic richness of Malaysia. The diversity of languages and dialects in this multicultural country was highlighted, along with the historical influences that have shaped the Malaysian language. Husein particularly emphasized its role in contemporary education and society.

The lecture generated significant interest among students of English, Sinology, Tourism, and Journalism, who actively participated in discussions and posed questions about the linguistic and cultural specificities of Malaysia.

In addition to the lecture, Professor Husein met with representatives of the Faculty of Economics at the University of Banja Luka and the Tourist Organization of Republika Srpska, and also delivered special lectures to students of the JU Gymnasium “Jovan Dučić” and the JU Hospitality and Trade School in Doboj.

The guest visited at the invitation of the Center for Foreign Languages at the Faculty of Philology and the Confucius Institute of the University of Banja Luka.
