Project ENPOWER: Summer School held in Belgium

The Summer School within the project “Strengthening Scientific Capacities for Energy Poverty (ENPOWER)” was held from 8 to 12 September 2025 in Leuven, Belgium.

The Summer School tackled topics such as the integration of renewable sources of energy into buildings, dynamic modelling, artificial intelligence, as well as social aspects of energy poverty. Particular emphasis was on the development of presenting skills, teamwork, and evaluation of results.

There were 17 researchers from the Republic of Srpska, Federation BiH and Italy, while the lecturers came from the Catholic University of Leuven, University of Tilburg, and University of Macerata.  Participants from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Architecture, Civil Engineering, and Geodesy, Faculty of Technology, Faculty of Economics, and Faculty of Political Sciences represented the University of Banja Luka.

The event concluded with a tour of the “Energyville” center in Genk, and “Thor Living Lab,ˮ the leading European centers for research and testing sustainable energy solutions.

“ENPOWER” is a project financed from the Horizon Europe program, and its basic goal is to strengthen the scientific capacities in the field of resolving energy poverty. The Project Consortium is led by the University of Banja Luka, with partners from Italy, Belgium, the Netherlands, and Ireland.
