Initial meeting within the project “RM SLO PLUS HUB”

The initial meeting within the project “RM SLO PLUS HUB” was held from 16 to 18 September 2025 in Athens, and the University of Banja Luka was represented by Prof. Suzana Gotovac Atlagić, PhD, from the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, and Prof. Ljiljana Tankosić, PhD, from the Faculty of Mining, along with researchers in the project, Nikolina Landeka and Milica Kosić.

This is the eighth project financed from the program of the European Institute of Innovations and Technologies, where UNIBL is a member of the project. The project is coordinated by the National Technical University of Athens, i.e. Professor Emeritus Kathrynn Adams. The Polish Academy of Science, University of Leoben from Austria, Madrid Polytechnic University, LUT University of Finland, and several associations and companies in the raw materials supply chain are the members of the Consortium. 

In its goals and content, the Project calls upon the EU document titled „Critical Raw Materials Actˮ, stimulating the sustainability of European raw materials supply chains that were neglected in the previous decades. The focus is on the social acceptability of exploitation and material processing industries, through education and promotion of good practices.

The team of the University of Banja Luka, represented by the Study program Chemistry at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences of the UNIBL, and Study program Mining at the Faculty of Mining, will present the examples of processing industry in the Republic of Srpska and BiH that respect high standards of protecting the living environment and workers’ health, as well as examples of successful recultivation of soil. 

The project lasts one year, and it will engage two UNIBL alumni, who will acquire experience in project methodologies and international communication.
