In the course of the ceremony, there was a formal award of the diplomas for 87 students who successfully completed their studies, as well as commendations to deserving professors and associates. This significant jubilee was an opportunity to stress the role of the Academy in shaping the art scene of the Republic of Srpska, but also the wider cultural space.
“Professors, students and alumni of the Academy of Art at the University of Banja Luka became the bearers of institutions of culture in the Republic of Srpska, but also of significant events in the cultural sphere in the RS, region and at the University,” said the Rector of the University of Banja Luka, Prof. Radoslav Gajanin, PhD.
Rector stressed that adequate space has been secured for the teaching process, but that activity is not yet completed, and the conditions will be continuously improved.
“This year, new activities have been planned, and the public will be duly informed in the coming days,” said Prof. Gajanin.
He reminded that the Students’ Cultural Centre was opened last year, and it is a teaching base for most of the study programs of the Academy of Arts.
“It is really pleasing that one of the most important members of the University of Banja Luka advances, both in terms of staff and working conditions,” said the Rector.
The Dean of the Academy of Arts, Prof. Dragana Purković Macan, PhD, said that this higher education institution steadily improves and develops year after year.
“It is confirmed by the increasing number of enrolled students. Soon we will celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Academy, and certain activities have already been initiated to that end. New investments have been planned to improve the teaching process, both materially and in terms of personnel. We do all this for the students, and we try to improve the education conditions,” said Purković Macan.
The best student of the generation, Radovan Ivanović, said that a large portion of his professional dreams had been fulfilled during his studies, and that he had significant successes in competitions and his career.
This event was an opportunity for the reconfirmation of the Academy of Arts' status as the key institution for the development of artistic expression and cultural identity of Banja Luka, Republic of Srpska, and beyond.
