UNIBL Joins International Initiative in the Field of Smart Agriculture
University of Banja LukaGeneralThe Vice-Rector for Teaching, Student Affairs and Quality Assurance at the University of Banja Luka (UNIBL), Prof. Milica Balaban, PhD, visited Belgrade on 26 June 2025, where, on behalf of the Rector, Prof. Radoslav Gajanin, PhD, she signed an agreement and attended the signing ceremony for the establishment of a joint research laboratory for smart agriculture and the processing of agri-food products.
The agreement was signed by Jiangsu University in China and several universities from Central and Eastern Europe, including the University of East Sarajevo, led by Rector Prof. Milan Kulić, PhD, the University of Novi Sad, headed by Prof. Dejan Madić, PhD, as well as the University of Niš, represented at the event by Rector Prof. Dragan Stepanović, PhD. The ceremony was also attended by Mr Li Hongbo, Secretary of the CPC Jiangsu University Committee, and representatives of Chinese business partners – Mr Liu Chaoyong, general manager of Zhenjiang Liuhengji Food Co., Ltd., and Mr Xiao Qingpeng, general manager of Jiangsu Lianbo Precision Technology Co.
This initiative represents a significant step towards international networking of knowledge, the development of innovation, and the application of advanced technologies in the field of smart agriculture, food technologies, and sustainable solutions for the valorisation of agricultural and food industry waste. The aim is to develop biodegradable materials, functional packaging, and sustainable technological solutions.
The University of Banja Luka recognises such projects as key to strengthening scientific cooperation, mobility, and innovation within the framework of international partnerships.
