Project SMEQA: Study Visit of Representatives to Ljubljana

As part of the Erasmus+ project Strengthening Capacities and Mechanisms for Enhancing the Quality Assurance System in Higher Education in BiH (SMEQA), representatives of the University of Banja Luka – prof. Mirjana Žabić, PhD, prof. Dragan Gligorić, PhD, prof. Vladimir Petković, PhD, and senior specialist Boris Topalović – took part in a study visit to the University of Ljubljana from 10 to 12 June 2025.

The three-day study visit focused on the improvement of the internal quality assurance (IQA) system, with particular attention paid to defining the ideal IQA model and its application based on the experiences and suggestions of all partner institutions within the project.

The participants were hosted by representatives of the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Ljubljana, Prof. Tomaž Deželan, PhD, and Prof. Irena Bačlija Brajnik, PhD. During the lectures and workshops, various levels of internal quality assurance were presented – at the level of the study programme, faculty, and university – as well as the role of quality assurance committees within institutions.

The visit also included an interactive workshop in which the participants, working in groups, defined recommendations and proposals for improving the quality assurance system, based on the experiences of partner institutions.

The final part of the visit was dedicated to presenting ongoing project activities, plans for the upcoming period, and preparations for the drafting of an internal report.

This study visit represents a significant step towards enhancing quality assurance mechanisms in higher education in Bosnia and Herzegovina through the exchange of experiences and good practices with a renowned institution such as the University of Ljubljana.
