The first Rector of the University of Banja Luka commemorated

On the occasion of marking half a century of successful work and development of the University of Banja Luka, the Rector, Prof. Radoslav Gajanin, PhD, laid a wreath on the grave of the first rector of UNIBL, Prof. Dragomir Malić, PhD, in the Alley of the deserving citizens at the New cemetery in Belgrade, on 21 May 2025.

Along with Rector Gajanin, laying of the wreath was also done by the Vice-Rector for Human and Material Resources, Prof. Dalibor Kesić, PhD, and Prof. Miroslav Malinović, PhD.

By this act, the University of Banja Luka symbolically paid respect to its first Rector and one of the founders of the modern higher education in Banja Luka.

Prof. Dragomir Malić, PhD, was the first Rector of the University of Banja Luka, and he held that position until his death on 8 June 1979. During his academic and scientific career, Prof. Malić left a large legacy in the field of thermodynamics and cybernetic thermodynamics. He was the author of 134 scientific papers and university textbooks. He was a full-time professor at the Faculty of Mining and Geology in Belgrade, where he was multiple times elected for Dean and Vice-Dean, and twice for Vice-Rector of the University of Belgrade.

With his work and dedication, he contributed to the establishment and development of numerous higher education institutions in Belgrade, Sarajevo, Niš, Priština, and Banja Luka.
