The Conference DEMI 2025 gathered experts from 14 countries

An International Conference about achievements in mechanical and industrial engineering – DEMI 2025 was opened on 29 May 2025 at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the University of Banja Luka.

The Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering in Banja Luka, Prof. Darko Knežević, PhD, said that the Conference will present the latest achievements in fields such as production, energy and traffic engineering, mechatronics, and similar fields.

He emphasized that there is a large demand for mechanical engineers in the labor market, so students who complete this faculty are highly employable.

 “In order to have quality engineers, we must have professors who follow the latest developments, so that they can pass it on to the students. I believe we have them,” said Knežević, and added that the Conference gathered participants from 14 countries.

The Chairman of the Conference Organizational Board, Assoc. Prof. Dejan Branković, PhD, said that 82 scientific papers by 244 authors will be presented, and added that achievements in mechanical engineering are of key significance for the development of every community.
“The mechanical industry presents the pillar of social development, and it has been recognized as such. We are trying to prevent the brain drain in order to secure the further development of our community,” said Branković.

The Conference was attended by the Vice-rector for Human and Material Resources of the University of Banja Luka, prof. Dalibor Kesić, PhD, and the President of the Steering Board, Prof. Biljana Antunović, PhD.

This two-day conference, which was organized for the 17th time, was prepared by the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the University of Banja Luka, in cooperation with the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the University in Niš, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the University of Podgorica, University Babeș-Bolyai of Cluj-Napoca in Romania, University Eftimie Murgu of Reșița, Romania, and University of Reykjavik.
