Cooperation of the University of Banja Luka and Shandong Group

A Memorandum of Understanding between the University of Banja Luka and China Shandong International Economic & Technical Cooperation Ltd. – Banja Luka branch, was signed in the Rectorate of the UNIBL on 5 May 2025

The Memorandum was signed by the Rector of the University of Banja Luka, Prof. Radoslav Gajanin, PhD, and General Manager of the Chinese company, Liu Rucheng.

The cooperation envisaged in this document was oriented to strengthening the ties between the academic community and the economic sector, training of talented individuals, and joint research and development.

As stipulated in the Memorandum, the Chinese partner will enable students of the University of Banja Luka to participate in summer camps, to have practice and possibly employment. There is also a plan to have regular lectures engaging experts from China, who will pass on the practical knowledge to the students. There will also be regular visits to project locations, in order to get an insight into the real business operations.

Within the training program, among others, it is planned to design educational programs in the fields such as project management, construction technologies, and other fields, in order to improve the professional skills of students and adjust them to the needs of the international market. 

Technical cooperation will be directed to applying advanced technologies in civil engineering, supporting the development of infrastructural projects in the Republic of Srpska. Special attention will be paid to joint research and scientific projects financing applications, as well as establishing advanced research laboratories in the field of construction materials and technologies.

The signing of this memorandum is an important step in the internationalization of the University of Banja Luka and the strengthening of scientific and technical cooperation with partners from the People’s Republic of China.

The meeting was also attended by the Vice-Rector for Human and Material Resources, Prof. Dalibor Kesić, PhD; Director of the Confucius Institute and Head of the Sinology study program at the Faculty of Philology, Associate Professor Ljiljana Stević, PhD; the Dean and Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Geodesy, Prof. Saša Čvoro, PhD and Associate Professor Žana Topalović, PhD (respectively), and representatives of the Shandong group.
