The „Learning Modules About Intellectual Property Protection“ Project Successfully Implemented

The project „Learning Modules About Intellectual Property Protection“ was successfully implemented on 25 September 2020 through the Webinar hosted in the Google Meet application.

Within this project, supported by the Ministry of Scientific and Technological Development, Higher Education and Information Society of the Republic of Srpska, which gathered 56 participants, several modules were presented. These modules are: Intellectual Property in the Field of Information Technologies, Protection of Intellectual Property through Consortium Agreements, Open Science and Open Data, Patents and Patent Protection, Patent Application Procedure and Intellectual Property Rights at the University of Banja Luka.
On behalf of the University of Banja Luka, the participants of the event were addressed by the Vice-Rector for Research and Development of the University, Prof. Goran Latinović, PhD, who stressed the importance of implementing such projects at the University of Banja Luka.

Project coordinator Predrag Govedarica pointed out that of all the universities in Bosnia and Herzegovina currently there is only one patent application filed with the Institute for Intellectual Property of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the one from the University of Banja Luka.

According to him, the assistant professor at the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics, University of Banja Luka, Suzana Atlagić-Gotovac, PhD, filed this patent application. As Govedarica pointed out, another patent application is to be submitted soon by a professor from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, University of Banja Luka.

During the first module, lawyer and patent attorney Jovan Šarac, PhD, pointed out the dominance of the University of Banja Luka as compared to other universities, with respect to intellectual property, as the University of Banja Luka has shown significant progress in this area, during the meetings of the working group for drafting the Strategy for Intellectual Property Protection of BH.
