Oratory Competition of the Faculty of Law Students Held

The 15th Oratory Competition of the Faculty of Law Students took place on 27 June 2019 at this Faculty.

This competition was organized by the „Institutio Oratorio“ Oratory and Rhetoric Center of the Faculty of Law, founder and head of which is Professor Nikola Mojovic, PhD, together with the mentors Olivera Sevo and Igor Popovic, Assistants at the Faculty of Law.

Altogether 12 students competed in three disciplines: delivering speeches on free-choice, on given topic and by improvising. 

In the first discipline, the award was shared by the second year students Marko Romic and Igor Mirjanic due to the equal number of votes. In the discipline of delivering speeches on given topic, the award went to the third year student Anita Granolic, who was also awarded by the Association of Students of the Faculty of Law for the speech delivered promoting patriotic values. As for the most difficult discipline, improvisation, the award went to the fourth year student Nikola Duper. He also won the most significant award – award of the audience, as well as the award of the Ombudsman for Human Rights given by Prof. Ljubinko Mitrovic, PhD.

Dean of the Faculty of Law Prof. Zeljko Mirjanic, PhD, and Vice Rector for Scientific Research and University Development Prof. Goran Latinovic, PhD, welcomed everyone at the beginning of the competition. This event was also attended by the Vice Rector for Teaching and Students Issues Prof. Strain Posavljak, PhD.

Thereafter, former competitors and members of the Center surprised Prof. Mojovic by preparing, publishing and giving him the book of oratory from previous competitions. The law intern Djordje Knezevic was the initiator of this idea and he gave a speech to the professor and the audience. 

Apart from the competitors, members of the ’Istocnik – Sveti Platon Banja Luka’ ensemble, headed by the professor of the Academy of Arts of the University of Banja Luka Arsen Carkic, and members of the City Tamburitza Orchestra Banja Luka and ’Jazavac’ City Mixed Choir with the conductor Zlatan Miric presented the music program. 

The Center thanked the Mayor of Banja Luka Igor Radojicic for his support, the Ombudsman for Human Rights of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Ombudsman Ljubinko Mitrovic, PhD, the Notary Chamber of the Republic of Srpska, the Bar of the Republic of Srpska and its president Branislav Rakic, as well as Sberbank a.d. Banja Luka.
