Visit to the University of Saarland, Germany

Prof. Dr Stanko Stanić, Rector of the University of Banja Luka, and Prof. Dr Valerija Šaula, Vice-Rector for International Cooperation, paid a three-day working visit (10-13 December 2014) to the University of Saarland, Saarbrücken, in the organization of Consulate General of Bosnia and Herzegovina, represented by the Consul General, Mr. Dragan Dragić, and under the auspices of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina.



During the meeting in the premises of the Consulate General on 10 December 2014, the representatives of the University of Banja Luka and University of Zenica (Rector-Prof. Dr Dževad Zečić) discussed the program and the purpose of the visit with the host. The Consul General Dragan Dragić, Consul Dag Đumrukčić and Vice-Consul Dragan Mihaljević invited some of the professors who spent their entire careers in Germany (Prof. Dr Dušan Gruden and Prof. Dr Jovan Mitrović) who shared these experiences on cooperation with German partners and modalities of work at the German universities. The meeting was also attended by Ms Renata Delić, a lecturer at the Vocational School of German Language for Adults in Stuttgart, and by Mr. Haris Halilović, former Consul General in Stuttgart and the Chairman of the Association of Supplementary (Culture and Language Immersion Classes) Schools in Germany for citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina.



On 11 December 2014, during a whole-day visit to the University of Saarland, Saarbrücken, the delegation was joined by the representatives of University of Sarajevo (Prof. Dr Zehra Kreho, Vice-Rector for Teaching Issues and Students Affairs, and Mr. Saša Madacki, Associate for Curriculum).

Delegation of the universities from the Republic of Srpska and Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina were hosted by the Vice-Rector for International Cooperation and European Affairs of the University of Saarland Prof. Dr Astrid Fellner, Director of the International Relations Office Mr. Johannes Abele, professor at the Department of Slavistics Dr Gabriela Vojvoda-Engsteler, Director of the Institute Europe Prof. Dr Thomas Giegerich, Researcher at the Institute for New Materials Leibnitz Prof. Dr Roland Bennewitz, Director of the Office for the Transfer of Technology and Entrepreneurship of the University of Saarland Dr Conny Clausen and Director of the European School of Materials Prof. Dr Flavio Soldera.



During the meeting the delegations presented their respective academic backgrounds, and then discussed the possibilities of cooperation within the framework of the Erasmus + and Horizon 2020 programs, as well as the signing of a bilateral agreement, with a view to enabling other forms of cooperation.

On the last day of the visit, 12 December 2014, the delegations of University of Banja Luka and University of Zenica, accompanied by the Consul General and Vice-Consul, paid a visit to the Mercedes Benz Company in Stuttgart and learned about the scope of production and ways the company does business. They also took a guided tour of some of the production lines.
