Information Day on the WBCInno at the University of Banja Luka

The Information Day on the Modernization of WBC universities through strengthening of structures and services for knowledge transfer, research and innovation – WBCInno took place on 15 September at the University of Banja Luka. The WBCInno is a part of the Tempus project whose coordinator is the University of Kragujevac with 16 partners from the EU (The UK, Germany, Austria, Spain) and the Western Balkan countries (Serbia, Montenegro and Bosnia and Herzegovina); five EU institutions, five Universities from the Western Balkan countries, five business incubators and one enterprise.



During this event, intended primarily for small and medium-size businesses, faculty staff members, researchers and students, the participants were provided with the opportunity to find more about the Project, its goals and projected effects, as well as with the results achieved so far.

Prof. Milan Mataruga, the Vice-Rector for research and scientific development, informed the participants of the available resources the University is directing to the improvement of the scientific research and innovation.

Reminding the participants of the fact that the University of Banja Luka organized the panel session titled ‘Science at the University’ in May this year, which resulted in outlining the Action Plan, Prof. Mataruga emphasized that a group of activities defined by this Action Plan was exactly the topic of the Information Day, or more specifically, the transfer of knowledge and technologies. Moreover, Prof. Mataruga is hoping that the University would aim its enormous scientific potential at the improvement of the local economy.



Prof. Petar Maric, the Head of the WBCInno team of the University of Banja Luka, presented briefly the objectives of this Project, pointing out that one of the key goals was to transform the university concerned mainly with education into a business and entrepreneurial one, contributing to the economic and cultural development of the society.

Referring to the results achieved, Prof. Mataruga stressed out that many foreseen activities had been realized, which primarily relates to the university innovative platform, which is a result of the partnership with the European universities. Prof. Tatjana Pesic-Brdjanin, a university member working on the project, revealed more details about this innovative platform which would enhance the transfer of knowledge and technologies.



Furthermore, one of the results achieved is developing a methodology for managing the innovation. This methodology provides answers to all those persons who want to materialize their ideas but have certain difficulties.

Prof. Zoran Djuric, the Vice-Dean for scientific and research development and a member of WBCInno team at the University of Banja Luka, presented the Catalogue of scientific and research potentials of the University of Banja Luka.

The participants had the opportunity to find more about the Regional strategic development plan for business incubators and scientific and technology park, about which Mr. Drago Gveric, the Head of the Innovation Centre, and Mr. Mario Lukic, the Head of the University Enterprise Center, talked.

Ms. Jelena Rozic, an associate for international cooperation at the University of Banja Luka, delivered the speech on the topic: From TEMPUS to ERASMUS +.
