The Rector and Vice-Rector of the University of Primorska in Koper visited the University of Banja Luka

With the aim of formalising the previously agreed cooperation, the Rector of the University of Primorska in Koper, Slovenia, Prof. Dragan Marusic, and the Vice-Rector for Economic Issues and Finance, Prof. Rok Strasek visited the University of Banja Luka on 25 April 2014. The guests were received by the Rector of the University of Banja Luka, Prof. Stanko Stanic, and Vice-Rector for Human Resources, Prof. Drasko Marinkovic.

The second meeting of the management representatives of the two universities was mostly dedicated to defining the particular areas of cooperation that would be included in the future agreement on cooperation between these two institutions of higher education.

The Rector Stanic reminded the present of the fact that the Student Parliament of the University of Banja Luka had a tradition of organizing scientific and professional conference titled ''Students making advance in science'' and suggested that the first step toward connecting students should be inviting students from the University of Primorska to participate in the aforementioned international conference.

The Rector of the University of Primorska, Prof. Marusic, informed the hosts on the initiative for forming the network of small and medium universities in the area of former Yugoslavia, pointing out the advantages of this form of association, mainly in the domain of the exchange of teachers and students for all network members, including the University of Banja Luka as the potential member. The Rector Stanic found this initiative useful and pointed out that there was no reason for it not to be accepted.

In addition, during further discussion, it was established that the University of Primorska could be very helpful to the University of Banja Luka when it came to organizing PhD studies according to the principles of the Bologna Process at some of the faculties of the University, since the University of Koper had gone much further in the process than the University of Banja Luka.

At the meeting, it was agreed that the next step in formalising cooperation between the University of Banja Luka and the University of Primorska would be making the proposal of the agreement on cooperation that should be signed during the visit of the management of the University of Banja Luka to the University of Primorska, planned for May this year.
