Professor Stanko Stanic (2006-2016)

Stanko Stanić was born on 8 May 1954 in the village of Utulovići, Foča Municipality. He finished primary school in 1970, and graduated from the Banja Luka Gymnasium in 1974. He completed undergraduate studies in 1978 at the Faculty of Economics in Banja Luka. He was awarded two Golden Badges of the University of Banja Luka for exceptional success during studies, in 1978 and 1979. He defended his master’s thesis under the title “Fractional Programming and its Application in Economics” in 1981 at the Faculty of Economics in Zagreb, and his doctoral dissertation entitled “Quantitative Analysis of Regional Development” in 1985 at the Faculty of Economics in Sarajevo. He was hired as a teaching assistant in 1979, senior teaching assistant in 1981, then as assistant professor in 1985, associate professor in 1995, and full professor for the scientific field of operational research at the Faculty of Economics in Banja Luka in 2004. He authored 28 publications – papers in magazines and proceedings, monographs, chapters in monographs and textbooks. He served as vice-dean for teaching at the Faculty of Economics from 1986 to 1988, and as vice-rector for teaching at the University of Banja Luka from 1992 to 1998. He served as dean of his home Faculty from 1998 to 2006 and from 2016 to 2020. He served as rector of the University of Banja Luka from 2006 to 2016. He lives and works in Banja Luka.
