7th Framework Programme (FP7)

The University of Banja Luka is participating in the Framework Programmes of European Union.

Framework Programmes – FP are the main instruments for funding the research in Europe. The first FP was launched in 1984. Proposed by the European Commission, Framework Programmes are adopted by the EU Council and European Parliament. Framework Programmes are designed to support a cooperation between universities, research centers and industry (including SMEs), and provide financial support for their joint projects.

FP7 is designed to build on the achievements of its predecessor towards the creation of the European Research Area, and carry it further towards the development of the economy and society of knowledge in Europe. Beside that, it is planned to create the European leadership into ten priority themes through financing the scientific researches, which together are implemented by different kinds of organizations and institutions, regardless state borders, as well as creating the infrastructure of the highest quality for European researches and building up the human capacities in the frame of the European researches.
It has been proposed that FP7 runs for seven years. It will be fully operational as of 1 January 2007 and will expire in 2013.

The amended FP7 proposals from the European Commission, following the budget agreement between the European Council and European Parliament amount to a total of EUR 50,521 million.
