Delegates of the University of Banja Luka at the Confucius Institute Conference

Delegates of the University of Banja Luka, headed by the Rector Prof. Radoslav Gajanin, PhD, participated in the 13th Confucius Institute Conference. The Conference was held on 4th and 5th December 2018 in the city of Chengdu, China.

Besides Rector Gajanin, both Chinese and home director of the Confucius Institute at University of Banja Luka, Ying Cai and Ljiljana Stević, also attended the Conference.

The 13th Confucius Institute Conference was dedicated to promotion and further improvement of the Confucius Institutes’ quality, and all in hope to build a stronger future together.

This year’s Conference “Development through reform and innovation: joint efforts for the shared future” featured 8 Presidents’ Forums and 20 Workshops that focused on ways to manage a Confucius Institute and enhance innovations.

Sun Chunlan, vice-premier of the State Council of China and chair of the Council of Confucius Institute Headquarters, held a speech at the opening ceremony and welcomed all international and national delegates.

On the first day of the Conference delegates of the University of Banja Luka participated in workshops focusing on establishment of Confucius Institute classrooms as Confucius Institute branch offices, expectation management when it comes to cooperation between Chinese partner universities and Confucius University hosts, and ways to strengthen the collaboration between Confucius Institutes globally.

The second day of the Conference was dedicated to Presidents’ Forums, focusing on modeling an innovative advancement of Confucius Institutes using technology and building a platform for two-way cooperation and multi-level cooperation, as well as many other crucial ways to enhance cooperation and offer additional values to the university whose students now have the opportunity to learn Chinese language regardless of their major.

Meeting of the Confucius Institutes’ Advisory Council Representatives

The Confucius Institutes’ Advisory Council held a meeting in order to analyze the 2018 work report of the Confucius Institute, the results and challenges, as well as the possibilities of improving the academic mobility of professors and students.

The Confucius Institute work plan for 2019 was also discussed at the meeting.
