University of Banja LukaGeneral

Chen Bo, Ambassador of the People's Republic of China in Bosnia and Herzegovina, visited the Confucius Institute at the University of Banja Luka on 16 October 2018 and expressed her satisfaction with its success and progress.

On that occasion, Ambassador Bo talked with professor Radoslav Gajanin, Rector of the University of Banja Luka, Ying Cai, Chinese Director of the Confucius Institute, and the management of the Faculty of Political Sciences at the University of Banja Luka.

Ambassador Chen Bo expressed her satisfaction with how quickly the Confucius Institute at the University of Banja Luka had developed, which has surpassed all expectations.

“The support of the institutions of the Republic of Srpska and the Rectorate of the University of Banja Luka as well as the efforts of the two directors of the Confucius Institute contributed significantly to this development, which has led to great results," said Ambassador Bo and expressed a belief that the Institute will develop even more in the future, adding that the Embassy of China in BiH will continue to support it.

Rector of the University Gajanin thanked the Ambassador for all the help and support given for both the establishment and development of the Confucius Institute at the University of Banja Luka, as well as for the support in implementing the activities of this Institute.

"Since its establishment, the Institute has organized and carried out many activities, such as the Chinese language courses and lectures on different topics on Chinese culture, tradition and customs," said Rector Gajanin and emphasized that the activities aimed at establishing connections between universities in Banja Luka and China were of particular importance and that several cooperation agreements have been signed for that purpose.

The Chinese Director of the Confucius Institute at the University of Banja Luka thanked the RS Government, the Embassy of PR China in BiH and all those who have supported the Confucius Institute.

"Had there not been such support, the Institute would not have achieved such good results", said Ying.

During her visit to the Confucius Institute in Banja Luka, Ambassador Bo also paid a visit to the library of the Faculty of Political Sciences, which contains about 2 000 books in Chinese and Serbian languages.

Those are books donated to the Confucius Institute at the University of Banja Luka by the Headquarters of Confucius Institutes Hanban and the Ministry of Education of PR China.
