The Technology Transfer Summer School, intended for the representatives of the respective offices at universities, faculties, research institutes, and other relevant institutions in the region of the Western Balkans was held in the city of Podgorica (Montenegro) on 4-7 June 2018.

This School is one of the activities of the EU4TECH project, encompassing 6 countries and 15 institutions, the University of Banja Luka included.

At the event, the present were introduced to basic elements of technology transfer, various means and ways of its realization, as well as to major challenges and solutions applicable to similar processes.

Exchanging their experiences, the participants came to a conclusion that they encountered similar problems in their work, and that such an event was useful in terms of strengthening their own capacities and making a progress in establishing the infrastructure supporting the aforementioned process at their respective institutions.

Ms Nikolina Garaca, representative of the Centre for Entrepreneurship and Technology Transfer of the University of Banja Luka, said that ‘the experience, knowledge, and contacts gained at the event will prove valuable not only for the Centre itself, but also for the whole of the University and all researchers’.

‘Technology transfer is a continuous, regulated, and supported process at numerous universities in Europe and worldwide. Not only does it provide benefits to these institutions, but it also improves the quality of their services and scientific research and contributes to their overall academic image. It is some of the reasons why such activities should be supported at the University of Banja Luka’, added Ms Garaca.

Among other things, the Centre provides support to innovators and young entrepreneurs in designing and developing their business ideas and organizes and coordinates the implementation of patent application, licensing, and knowledge transfer procedures between educational institutions and companies.
